The Chandler TG2/DI Dual Channel Microphone Preamplifier is a recreation of the rare EMI TG12428 preamplifier used in EMI/Abbey Road recording and mastering consoles of the late 1960s and early 1970s. many famous recordings made at Abbey Road, including "Abbey Road" by the Beatles and "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. Chandler's version was reworked from original design notes and circuit board drawings, provided by Abbey Road and EMI.
The TG2 preamp features the same transformer-balanced discrete amplifiers as Chandler's renowned TG series limiter and delivers a smooth tone with a clear, open top end. In fact, the TG2 has a small boost in its high-frequency response and some heat-inducing distortion that contributes to its sound. The preamp requires Chandler's PSU-1 MKII power supply to operate, sold separately.
